All persons taking part in events held by DDRCA agree to abide by the rules as set out below. Failing to follow the club rules may result in you being requested to leave the venue.

1. General Venue & Track Safety

This is a no smoking, or vaping, venue. Anyone wishing to smoke must leave the school premises. It is not permitted to smoke or vape directly outside the Hub.

• BRCA Membership: All drivers must hold a valid British Radio Car Association (BRCA) membership for insurance coverage. Proof of membership may be requested at race control.

• Footwear & Pit Safety: Closed-toe footwear is strictly mandatory in the sports hall, pit area, and on track at all times. Flip-flops, sandals, or bare feet are strictly prohibited.

• Venue Floor Protection: To protect venue sports hall flooring and track carpet, all chassis underside screws must be fully countersunk. Body post tips and wheel axle ends must be trimmed flush with no sharp protrusions.

• Ground Clearance: A minimum ground clearance of 5.0mm applies to all on road cars, 8.0mm for Rally cars and 10.0mm for buggies on track at all times. No metal parts or bodywork may touch the carpet surface.

2. Mandatory LiPo Battery & Charging Safety

• LiPo Sack Requirement: All Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries MUST be charged and balanced inside a fully sealed, fire-retardant LiPo sack or purpose-built safety box.

• Voltage Limits: Maximum permitted charging voltage is 8.40V (4.20V per cell). Overcharging (including high-voltage HV cells charged above 8.40V) is strictly forbidden and results in immediate disqualification.

• Casing Standard: Only 2S factory hard-case LiPo packs are permitted. Soft-case lithium packs are strictly prohibited.

• Unattended Charging: Batteries must never be left unattended while charging. Charging equipment must display live voltage and current settings clearly.

3. Control Tyres & Traction Additive Policy

• Control Tyres: All official race classes must run designated Club Control Tyres as specified by Race Control. Tyre warming or modification outside of authorised additives is prohibited.

• Approved Additives: Only Club-Approved Additive supplied or designated by Race Control may be used on track premises. Unauthorised or non-approved additives are strictly banned.

4. Race Operations & Marshalling Protocols

• Mandatory Marshalling: Drivers must report to marshal posts immediately following their heat or final. If running back-to-back or unable to marshal, you must arrange a qualified substitute driver and inform Race Control.

• Transponders: Personal transponders must be mounted securely inside the car and registered prior to taking the track.

• Scrutineering: Race Control, or their designated representatives, reserves the right to verify that any vehicle on track meets the club requirements as set out in these rules. Failure to meet club rules may result in you being requested to leave the premises.

5. Driver Conduct & Track Etiquette

• Driver Etiquette: Refrain from shouting, swearing, or abusive comments toward marshals or drivers. Clear communication (e.g., “Passing on left”) is encouraged. Maintain line-of-sight positions. Remember, it is your actions that require a marshal to intervene not theirs.

• Overtaking & Yielding: Lapped cars must yield cleanly to lead drivers at the earliest opportunity. Punting or forcing passes via rear-end contact is strictly banned.

• The “Give Back” Rule: If contact spins or displaces another car, the offending driver must pull over and wait for the affected driver to recover and rejoin ahead before continuing.

• Marshalling Focus: Marshals must stay focused on their assigned track zone without distractions (mobile phone use is banned). Always check oncoming traffic before stepping onto track.

• Penalties: Infractions may result in verbal warnings, 10-second stop-and-go penalties, or event disqualification for unsportsmanlike behavior.

• Refunds: Any persons being requested to leave the premises due to not meeting club requirements, as set out in these rules, will not be entitled to a refund of race fees.

1. General Booking & Entry Fees

• All race entries must be completed and paid in full using our online booking portal.
• Booking confirmations are subject to valid British Radio Car Association (BRCA) membership verification (new drivers are permitted a maximum of 3 trial meetings before full BRCA membership is required).
• Race entries are personal to the registered driver and class; they are non-transferable to other drivers without prior written approval from Race Control.

2. Event Cancellation & Threshold Policy

• Booking Cutoff: Online entries close strictly 10 days prior to the scheduled event date at 23:59. Cutoff for club night bookings is 12:00 on the day of the club night.
• Minimum Participant Requirements: To ensure viable heat structures and cover venue hire costs, each race class and overall event requires a minimum number of confirmed, paid entries by the 10-day deadline.
• Club-Initiated Cancellations: We reserve the right to merge or cancel individual race classes, or cancel an entire race event, if entry numbers fall below minimum thresholds when bookings close.
• Refunds for Cancelled Events: If an event or class is cancelled by the club due to low entry numbers or unforeseen venue issues, registered drivers will receive a 100% full refund or the option to transfer their entry fee as account credit toward a future meeting.
• Driver-Initiated Cancellations: Driver cancellations made prior to the 10-day booking cutoff are eligible for a full refund or credit. Cancellations requested after the 10-day cutoff are non-refundable.

3. Venue Rules & Pitting Standards

• Floor Protection: All vehicle chassis screws must be fully countersunk. Body posts and axle ends must be trimmed flush to protect venue sports hall flooring and track carpet.
• Minimum Ride Height: All vehicles must maintain a minimum ground clearance of 5.0mm (On-road/MTC) or class-specific limits at all times.
• Pit Table Protection: All drivers must use a dedicated pit mat or heavy towel to protect venue tables, if used, from lubricants, additives, and solder.
• Footwear & Attire: Closed-toe shoes are mandatory across the sports hall, pit area, driver stand, and track side at all times. Open-toed shoes, sandals, or flip-flops are strictly forbidden.

4. Mandatory LiPo Battery Safety

• Charging Enclosures: All Lithium Polymer (LiPo/LiHV) batteries must be charged and balanced inside a sealed, fire-retardant LiPo sack or dedicated safety box.
• Voltage & Supervision: Maximum permitted charging voltage is strictly 8.40V (4.20V per cell). Overcharging or leaving batteries unattended while charging is strictly prohibited and grounds for immediate event disqualification.

5. Driver Conduct & Marshalling

• Marshalling Duty: Drivers are required to marshal the race immediately following their heat or final. Drivers running back-to-back races must organise a competent replacement marshal prior to their race start.
• Junior Drivers (Under 18): Drivers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. If a junior driver is unable to marshal safely, their parent/guardian must provide a qualified substitute marshal.
• Sportsmanship: Verbal abuse, shouting, or aggressive behavior toward marshals, officials, or fellow drivers will result in warnings, lap penalties, or venue ejection.

6. Liability Waiver & Insurance

• Assumption of Risk: Radio-controlled car racing involves high-speed mechanical models. Participants, marshals, and spectators enter the venue and track area at their own risk.
• Limitation of Liability: Neither the club, its committee members, nor the venue owners accept liability for personal injury, illness, or loss/damage to personal property, tools, or vehicles incurred during an event, except where caused by proven negligence.
• Governing Body Coverage: Third-party public liability insurance is provided via valid BRCA membership. All claims regarding track incidents must be directed through official BRCA channels.

7. Rule Infractions and Disqualifications

• Ejections & Conduct Violations: Race entries are non-transferable without prior written approval from Race Control. Any driver requested to leave the venue or disqualified due to non-compliance with club safety rules, technical scrutineering, or driver conduct guidelines will not be entitled to a refund of race fees.

General Class Rules:
Chassis: Any commercially available 1/10th scale mini touring car chassis (4WD or FWD) with a wheelbase between 210mm and 225mm.
Ground Clearance: Minimum 5.0mm ride height at all times. Screws underneath the chassis must be countersunk to protect the track surface.
Batteries: Standard 2S (7.4V/7.6V HV) hard-case LiPos charged to a maximum of 8.40V. LiPo charging sacks are mandatory at all times.
Additives: Only club-approved tyre additives are permitted
Bodyshells: Any commercially available Scale Mini, Hatchback, or MTC-specific bodies. Body posts must be trimmed flush to avoid damaging carpet or injuring marshals.
Minimum Weight: 1200g ready-to-race (including transponder and bodyshell).

Wing Dimensions: Rear wings must be mounted using factory locations and cannot extend beyond the roofline height or the maximum rear profile of the bumper.

Tyres: Azami or Cactus rear tyres. Open front. Strictly no Mezzo tyres.
Bodyshells: Must run a scale 1/10th off-road buggy bodyshell that fully covers the chassis, electronics, and battery layout.
Wing Dimensions: Rear wings must be securely attached to the chassis wing mounts. Wing width must not exceed the overall outer width of the rear tyres, and side plates must not extend beyond the profile of the wing.
Safety & Trim: Shock towers, suspension arms, and wheels must remain uncovered as per traditional off-road buggy design. High-downforce front wings are permitted if securely mounted. Shock tower protectors must be fitted

Era Eligibility: Limited to original, re-released, or period-correct 1/10th scale off-road buggy chassis produced in 1998 or earlier for 2WD and 2004 or earlier for 4WD (e.g., Tamiya Hornet/Frog/Hotshot, Team Associated RC10 series, Kyosho Optima/Ultima, Schumacher Cat 2000, Losi JRX2/XX).
Chassis: Must retain the original drive layout and motor orientation. If this is not possible with modern electrics it should be as close to kit as possible.
Ground Clearance: Minimum 10.0mm ride height at all times. All underside screws must be countersunk to protect the track surface.
Batteries: Standard 2S (7.4V/7.6V HV) hard-case LiPos charged to a maximum of 8.40V or 6-cell NiMH stick packs. LiPo charging sacks are mandatory at all times.
Additives: Tyre additives are strictly prohibited.
Tyres: Honeycombs front and rear.
Allowed Upgrades: Modern slipper clutches, ball bearings, direct-replacement alloy shock towers, hinge pin braces, motor plates, and re-release transmission upgrades are permitted to improve durability. Dogbone, UJ and CVD driveshafts are open except for the latest CVDs that mount within the hub. 
Prohibited Modifications: Modifications and customisations must be minimal. Any customisation and materials must match those commonly seen racing during the years of that buggy’s original lifespan on the track. ‘Homemade’ and 3D printed parts must match the original item’s geometry but can be strengthened in areas for reliability or upgraded with aluminium parts used back in the era. Alloy parts must replicate the original part in all aspects
Bodyshells: Must have been available during the years of that buggy’s original lifespan on the track and Wings should be representative of the era.
Safety & Trim: Front shock towers and exposed bolts must be covered or rounded to protect track carpets/surfaces.
Minimum Weight: 1474g 2WD or 1588g 4WD ready-to-race (including transponder, battery and bodyshell).

Safety & Trim: All body posts, axle ends, and turnbuckles must be trimmed flush with no sharp edges protruding.
Minimum Weight: 1700g (Ready-to-Race) (including transponder, battery and bodyshell).
