1/10 Off-Road racing is a major global benchmark for competitive RC racing, attracting everyone from weekend club racers to professional factory-backed drivers. Chassis options range from durable entry-level tub kits around £120 to ultra-lightweight carbon fibre and aluminium competition race kits reaching £500+. With options for 2WD (rear-wheel drive) and 4WD (four-wheel drive), drivers can easily choose a platform that fits their driving style and track surface—whether that’s indoor astro turf, carpet, or outdoor dirt and clay. Popular manufacturers include Associated (Team Associated), Schumacher, XRAY, TLR (Team Losi Racing), and Yokomo.
Built to standardised racing dimensions, 1/10 buggies feature a wide suspension track (~250mm wide) and long-travel shock absorbers to soak up massive jumps and rough landings. Utilising high-traction spiked or treaded rubber tyres, oil-filled shocks, and lightweight aerodynamic bodyshells with high-downforce rear wings, they offer an exciting balance of air control and cornering speed.
General Class Rules:
Chassis: Any commercially available 1/10th scale electric off-road buggy chassis (2WD rear-wheel drive or 4WD) with maximum overall width not exceeding 250mm.
Ground Clearance: Minimum 10.0mm ride height at all times. Screws underneath the chassis must be countersunk to protect the track surface.
Batteries: Standard 2S (7.4V/7.6V HV) hard-case LiPos charged to a maximum of 8.40V. LiPo charging sacks are mandatory at all times.
Additives: Tyre additives are strictly prohibited.
Tyres: Azami or Cactus rear tyres. Open front. Strictly no Mezzo tyres.
Bodyshells: Must run a scale 1/10th off-road buggy bodyshell that fully covers the chassis, electronics, and battery layout.
Wing Dimensions: Rear wings must be securely attached to the chassis wing mounts. Wing width must not exceed the overall outer width of the rear tyres, and side plates must not extend beyond the profile of the wing.
Safety & Trim: Shock towers, suspension arms, and wheels must remain uncovered as per traditional off-road buggy design. High-downforce front wings are permitted if securely mounted. Shock tower protectors must be fitted
Minimum Weight: 1474g 2WD or 1588g 4WD ready-to-race (including transponder, battery and bodyshell).
